A favourite project from a few years ago we’re still proud to show off? 

A MEGA load of filtration tanks heading to Central Queensland. Each unit stands an impressive 4.5 metres high, fabricated from 316 stainless steel and purpose built for use in a sewerage treatment plant.

But what exactly does a tank like this need to do and why does every detail matter?

The Role of Filtration Tanks in Sewerage Treatment

In a sewerage plant, filtration tanks are a key part of the treatment process. Their job is to remove solids, contaminants and impurities from wastewater ensuring that what leaves the facility is safe for discharge or reuse.

These tanks are typically used in stages such as:

  • Primary and secondary filtration

  • Biological treatment processes

  • Final polishing before discharge

Put simply, they help turn contaminated wastewater into water that meets strict environmental standards.

Why 316 Stainless Steel?

When you’re dealing with sewerage, the environment inside a tank is extremely aggressive. Think chemicals, moisture, bacteria and gases all working together to break materials down over time.

That’s why these tanks are built from 316 stainless steel, which offers:

  • Superior corrosion resistance (especially against chlorides and harsh chemicals)

  • Long service life, even in highly aggressive environments

  • Low maintenance requirements

  • Hygienic, non reactive surfaces

For infrastructure that needs to perform reliably for decades, material choice isn’t optional, it's critical.
